  6. "Racism in America has never gone away. People of color have been written out of our history books – this is where racism begins: It is taught. Children are never taught our positive influence on history. And if children are taught, even Black children, to forget about Black history no wonder people of color don’t seem to matter in our present day. Blacks have not arrived because we have the King holiday. We did not arrive because of the election of President Barack Obama. Those are not America’s apology for slavery. They are not our 40 acres and a mule. Having an African-American President has only opened the curtain to reveal that America still has stage 4 racism cancer."

I’ve been feeling insecure about two things lately- my draftsmanship, and the fact that I don’t feel I’ve been treating my body the way it deserves.  This weekend has been wonderful, I’m taking the time to be kind to myself and rest, and also experiment with new materials to improve my process and hopefully make more art I’m proud of.  I tried to showcase both in my submission.  Hope everyone has a delightful Sunday!

This submission is so good I’m having difficulty even putting words to it. I adore how the focus is right on the tip of the table, causing a beautiful blurry haze over the fine details of the drawing and the smooth warm curves and shadows of her body. You captured everything absolutely perfectly, congratulations dear and thank you so much for sharing your submission. I hope you dedicate the time to relax and appreciate yourself, you work and you body every chance you get.
